Did We Just Become Best Friends?

Stepbrothers is a movie that was released in 2008 and is starring Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly. Ferrell and Reilly play two adults who still live with their parents. At a work conference Dale (Reilly) and Brennan's (Ferrell) parents meet and end up moving in together. At first the two resent each other because they don't like the idea of living with each other. Eventually the two begin to be friends and end up making one of the funniest duos in cinematic history.

The movie has many memorable scenes but the scene that sticks out to me is when Brennan and Dale become best friends. Both agree on some of their favorite topics and Brennan says " Did we just become just friends?". This is a very funny scene because the tension between them is broken. After this scene they end up doing karate in the garage and then end up making bunk bends which later falls on Brennan. The two of them make these scenes very funny and enjoyable to watch.

I loved this movie not only because of the comedic aspect, but because of the great plot the director Adam Mckay had for the movie. There are many ups and downs that kept me on the edge of my seat. Ferrell caused the downs of the movie to be funny, and the highs of the movie to be even funnier. If the plot hadn't been written the same then I believe the movie wouldn't had been as good. Ferrell and Reilly do amazing jobs with their acting in the movie and I loved watching them carry out the plot of the movie.

Since I loved this film so much I would rate it a GOOD/GOOD because the movie was one of the funniest and most enjoyable movies I've  watched. If the trailer interests you then this movie is a must watch.

  1. Keep pushing the evaluation in this review, Matt. Stepbrothers is a great movie, but so much of this review is focused on explaining the premise and the plot. If you’re going to focus on plot, it should be in the objective paragraph and it should give us a sense of the successes/failures of the plot. Remember that tone, actors, and dialogue are all objective, and you can objectively evaluate those choices. The subjective paragraph does focus a bit on your personal interest/excitement, but it gets so general. Why not examine specific choices in the scenes or other parts of the film that allow you to examine the choices that go into making this film. Love the title, but the whole thing is short-- should be 400-500 words, but this is 314, and much of that is summary/background instead of evaluation.
