Be Reel bog #2

In the past few weeks, I watched a relatively new TV show on CW called Riverdale. I am watching season 2 currently and i could not be more inclined to watch. The shows dynamic is about teenagers crazy, mind blowing journey through high school and ALL the drama and mystery that follows. It begins with the new girl Veronica, the town’s football star Archie, the town’s rich girl Cheryl , the good girl Betty, and the a weird kid Jughead.  When I first heard of this show I thought it would be another one of those basic High school shows about the popular kids and the nerds but I was pleasantly surprised when it wasn’t. The first episode started out with the narration from Jughead’s novel on the town and all the people in it. He talks about how the little town of Riverdale is changing and is changing rapidly. The town found out that the Blossoms son, Jason has been missing and according to his sister he drowned in Sweet water River on their morning boat ride. Throughout the show, it uncovers the details following that incident. The setting of this show, Riverdale,  is quite fitting to the mood which is dingy and dark most of the time. It’s always raining, foggy, and cold which adds the the suspenseful mood.  Between fighting crime, following the town’s gang (The South Side Serpents),  and fighting their parents over right from wrong, the adventures of these teen is a riveting adventure.  Some main objective qualities that make the show so different than any other show is the allusions to different novels and popular TV shows/movies. By adding all these references, it gives the audience something to relate to. I would recommend this shoe who loves anything over dramatic and would rate this show good good.

  1. I really like this show too! The short descriptions of each of the characters are accurate a to the point. The one sentence about Jason Blossom seems a bit confusing, especially to someone who has never watched the show before. (While I know you are referring to his sister, others might not. Who was with him? Who is the "their" in the boat ride sentence?) I like the approach for the allusions in the show because I've picked up on a couple while watching the show, it also ties in well to what we have been learning in class. (+ be sure to watch for spelling mistakes.)

  2. I love this show Jolie! I agree with your first opinion of this show that it would be just another typical high school show and be boring and predictable, but its not. It has so many twists and turns that you are so caught up in the drama and suspense you just have to watch the entire series. I also agree with your opinion about the way the series shows the eerie and creepiness by using the weather to show those elements. I am not currently up to date on season 2 but I plan on watching it and I am very excited about the it. The parents feud in this series is what makes it so entertaining also. The way that all of them have individual secrets about them that might ruin the others life is what also contributes to the suspense and eeriness of the show. The acting in this series I think is also very well developed because when I first heard that Cole Sprouse was going to be in the show all I could think of was The Suite Life of Zach and Cody but when I watched him on screen that thought didn´t even cross my mind. Once again I completely agree with your opinion on this show and give it a good good rating.
