Be Reel Blog: Deadpool 2 (Spoilers)

Deadpool 2, where can I even start. I think this movie was absolutely fantastic. The way the Deadpool movies are executed makes them different than any superhero movie ever. This movie was funny, entertaining, and heartbreaking all at the same time. Was it as good as the first movie? No. But are any sequels ever better than the first movie?

I want to talk about this movie objectively first, because I personally think it's important. This film has a lot of lessons, regardless of its comedic mask. Deadpool unfortunately loses his significant other at the beginning of the story, causing a whole lot of emotions and problems to arise. She was shot by someone who was actually after him, so he blames himself. A lot of times in the movie, he is killed and is fixed/brought back together. (Yes this makes no sense, but it's a superhero movie. None of it makes sense.) I found that by including the death and having Deadpool struggle really added to the story. He found another purpose, which was to save FireFist. FireFist was a little boy with powers. He was abused, angry, and wanted revenge. Deadpool takes his life for this kid, and in reward, fixes some things in the past too. His purpose was to save that kid. I personally believe that this storyline was incredibly important in low key teaching the audience an important lesson without them even knowing it. As a person, you will always have a purpose.

Now, I want to switch to my subjective outlook on this movie. I personally loved this movie. It was absolutely hilarious. The whole movie is just one big joke with some serious notes on the side. It's pure genius. My favorite choice by the director is the fact that they have Deadpool break the fourth wall, talking straight into the camera. It's like The Office, any sort of fourth-wall-breaking adds to the comedic aspect a ton! It's a fantastic tactic to use in a comedy. However, if it's used too much, it can become bland or cheesy. I personally believe that the directors and producers of Deadpool 2 used just the perfect amount!

Overall, I'm going to give this movie a good good. This movie used a great mix of seriousness and comedy to make a near-perfect movie. The objective and subjective qualities together make for a story line that will constantly have you feeling something. Great job, Marvel and 20th Century Fox.
