The Return of an Old Friend

The Flash TV Show on The CW was always missing something. One key element that people might have picked up on, especially those who saw The Flash throughout his entire career in both comics and animated shows. The original Wally West. The Sultan of Swoosh. What made Wally so memorable was three simple things: his snark and wit both in and out of fights, his ability to bridge the gap between superhero and regular guy and make his normal times actually helping people interesting and entertaining even without speed involved, and his love life that fit in very well with his comic storylines. Let us face it folks, these three elements are things that are sorely missed in The Flash on The CW. Barry's love life with Iris seems shoehorned into the show to keep an element of teen drama in the show, he's an absolute snoozefest in fights, and his time as a crime scene investigator for the Central City Police Department and as a regular guy just walking around the streets only end up leading to him swapping into his red and yellow tights in a matter of milliseconds. Where are the quips? Where is the natural sense of a flowing love story that ties in to the story? Where did all the fun and entertaining parts as "just a regular guy" go? I believe I have the answer; they were lost with the loss of a character as exciting and riveting as Wally West. This will shift the focus off of Barry Allen and his boring time as The Flash, and instead move the focus to a new and exciting character in Wally West. This is entirely and utterly aimed at those who remember the original Wally West. The ones who miss the feeling of having that grinning and snarky redhead behind the mask. This is meant to play on the nostalgia of those fans who miss that to draw them back in to the show on The CW. The way to do this is quite simple actually, in fact it’s almost already been done. Comic book sales for DC boomed once they added the original Wally West back in to the comics through the events of DC Rebirth, and it was even a success once they brought Wally into the Flash comics, bolstering the sales of those even more and making for quite an interesting and fun storyline adding two major main characters. So tune back in to the show on The CW, and watch as your hopes and dreams of seeing your favorite redhead back on the screen are brought to reality.
