Hello class, today was the second to last day to wrap up everything in your project before prom. Mr. Rivers started off class by giving advice about how to go about closing up your project and putting on finishing touches. It is important to makesure your product was designed with professional intentions, as well as making sure your project has no major flaws that stick out. Additionally, Mr. Rivers talked about the movie poster and the press release. The movie poster should be short simple and creative. It should have your movie title, as well as pictures in it to give someone who takes a glance at your poster a good idea of what your film is about. Secondly, the press release is what should hype up your movie and make people excited to watch your film. It should somewhat mirror your querru letter, but should also give slight hints to plot and why anyone in your target audience should watch your film specifically. When you complete the movie poster it should be placed on the class slideshow along with your extended Netflix summary and your cast list. When you finish typing up the press release it should be published to the class blog.
It is important to be able to complete this project because it has many practical skills involved in it that are more than just film education. This project teaches you about time.management, responsibility, self discipline, and could even teach you how to work with other people when working towards deadlines. Additionally, the project helps give a sense of what to expect next in terms of the qualities you learn when designing these films. It helps establish a foundation for all these skills and allows you to build upon them for the future. Going back to the film project, on Monday we will begin watching and reading the films in class. It will be the official start of our class "film festival". It is important to bring snacks and such because it wouldn't be a festival without good food. When we are watching you will be able fo sit back and relax and enjoy the high quality films produced by your peers. When we finish watching all the films you will then have time to read screenplays by your other classmates. After all of this you will have time to prepare for the final if you need to take it. Other than that, keep in mind that if you aren't able to finish your project by Friday you still have Sunday night to complete it. Prom weekend is coming up so the deadline for most will likely be Friday. Hopefully you finish your projects and are able to enjoy prom weekend!
