Daily Log Blog 6/12/18: The Film Festival

Today marked the beginning of our class' film festival which will continue tomorrow. A few students and Mr. Rivers brought in their in some snacks to share with the class, so if you still want to do that another day you can as long as the film festival continues. Today, we were able to watch both, Andrew's Chef Boyardee Film as well as Luke's group's Dumb and Dumber spin-off starring Stone Cold Steve Austin. For all the films that are shown we have to fill out an index card giving feedback on at least one of the decisions made in the film. This response is given on the lined side of the card with about a tweet's worth of content written while the "TO:" and "FROM:" with your the group's or film's name and yours filled out respectively.

Andrew's film was show first and featured Chris Rabbit dealing with Ethan Pappa's excessive hunger as he refused to eat anything but Chef Boyardee. It was funny to see how long it took before he made a decision only to be denied. Dumb and Dumber essentially features renamed characters from the Dumb and Dumber movies, but makes their adversary Stone Cold Steve Austin.

Watching these movies I was pretty impressed by their quality of many of the shots, but admittedly they did make me feel better about my own movie. That's not to say their bad as I don't believe my movie is completely bad, but we're all amateurs in movie making and it shows. That being said I would've taken a few tips from these like having longer shots, since these had some more impressive long tracking shots that I wish I could've emulated. Given a chance to do it again I would've tried to schedule our shooting times better as many of the times I felt like I only had a limited time to shoot and had to rush through without doing many re-shoots, hence the frequent cuts in my films.
