Today Mr.Rivers gave us the entire period to work on out narratives. The project is due this Sunday (June 10), but be sure to try and get it done sooner because that's prom weekend guys. You do NOT want to be stuck writing this weekend. Also, don't forget about your cast list, poster, google slide, and blog post to correspond with the project! This week all classes are being held in the Mac lab (133) so that anybody who needs to edit can do so. (I apologize for this being essentially identical to what I wrote last week but nothing has changed...)
For my narrative, I am trying to capture a tone similar to that of Disney films from the 1990s. It was during this time period that they released the films that dug them out of bankruptcy. These films are considered some of the best animated films of all time, and also include many iconic songs. I am hoping that my story will be able to mirror the traits that made those films so successful while still being able to stand on its own.
My biggest obstacle has been conveying the goals that I set for myself in a short manner. This story has been growing for two years, and having the opportunity to completely flesh it out to its entirety has been great. Unfortunately, it very quickly became much longer than the requirement. I am going to try to complete the story though, because I know if I reach the end I will have the strongest chance of accurately striking the tone I want.
The real reason I brought up the Disney Renaissance is for a fairly selfish reason. I really enjoyed ranking the Pixar films last time I made a blog, and now I am going to do the same for the Disney Renaissance films. Luckily there are only ten of them so I won't need to sort through 19 movies. Anyway, here's my list that is made for completely selfish reasons. (The films toward the top are the ones I am really trying to emulate with my screenplay.)
10.) The Rescuers Down Under (1990)
9.) Tarzan (1999)
8.) Pocahontas (1995)
7.) Hercules (1997)
6.) The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1996)
5.) Mulan (1998)
4.) Aladdin (1992)
3.) The Little Mermaid (1989)
2.) The Lion King (1994)
1.) Beauty and the Beast (1991)
