Happy Death Day- Benji Davis

Happy Death Day- Bad Bad

Happy death-day, although marketed well, Was most likely one of the worst movies that I've seen in a long time. It was repetitive not entertaining and although had a twist ending was still not enjoyable. After walking out of the movie theater I felt ashamed that I had spent $17 on a movie ticket to watch this movie. Happy Death Day Is about a girl who wakes up in a  random dorm room on her birthday  and  goes through her day like a normal person but at the end of her day she is murdered by an unknown person.  She then finds herself in the same dorm room  after she is killed assuming that it was just a bad dream. After she has a realization that she's living the same day over and over again she needs to solve her own murder in order to move on to the next day. Naturally when you have infinite amount of lives you eventually solve your own murder. The thing that upset me most about this film was that since the main character had unlimited amount of lives it wasn't scary when she died because you knew she would just come back to life the next day. The film had no big deal movie stars in it had a very strange plot and had no deeper meaning to the audience therefore on the objective quality it did not score well for me. when it came to subjective enjoyment, As I said before the movie was not scary when it was portrayed as a horror film and there were so many plot holes that you were thinking about the things wrong with the movie rather than thinking deeper into the film. This is a movie that I would never recommend for someone to watch, it's a waste of time and a waste of money.

  2. When I saw all the trailers I thought that the movie looked good, but as you said it didn't have any risk feel like all good horror movies have. It was just like she was playing a game with an endless amount of lives. If the movie had some sort of threat like Edge of Tomorrow with having a way that he can lose the ability of living again or having a point that you just don't come back. This would add a sense of urgency and a risk reward type of feeling that make a good horror movie, without it as you said there was no point in being scared for the main character because she'll just come back perfectly fine, and be able to try, and try again with no consequences whatsoever. All this does indeed give the movie a dry and stale feel leaving the viewer board and never worried about the main character, the only feeling I got was annoyed and bored. It had great potential but fell flat with very little to offer anyone.

  3. I can definitely agree with it not being a good movie. The whole movie seemed repetitive and it got to be boring. Having the same day repeat over and over the amount of times that it did was too much. The movie could have been shortened by at least a half hour if not more. I thought the ending was cool how it was the roommate that was trying to kill her. But back to the day repeating I didn't like how the next day she was back to normal. If she was hurt then she should have stayed hurt the next day. There wasn't any thrill to the movie at all. The whole time I thought it was going to be a lot scarier than it was. I am not one for horror movies but I went to see it thinking that it was going to be good. All in all I agree completely with you that the movie was bad, bad!

  4. When I saw the trailer for the movie, I thought that it looked good. I actually have not seen it since it came out. The way you desccribed the movie, it seems like you really didn't like that movie. You used a lot of subjectivce analysis, which is good. While the point of view is supported with lots of facts and examples from the actual movie, I wouldn't necessarily agree that it is a Bad, Bad movie, for I haven't seen it yet. But some aspects of it do come into play; it would most likely be a very bad movie. I don't really see any flaws. One thing, however, you could put some more objective analysis into your analysis

  5. Benjamin i would like to first off highly disagree with your statement that this movie is the worst thing you have ever seen. This movie gave anxiety everytime s
he woke up. It gave the question that " who killed her" for a good portion of the movie. The whole time i was up in my seat guessing who could have killed her? I know you are tough and think scary movies are not that scary, but this was an amazing thriller that made the audience guessing. Y
es some parts were a little bland with her waking up every single time, but when she dies and she still does not know who creates an extreme amount of suspense. So in conclusion Benjamin i disagree with your opinion because this movie was a interesting thriller that creates tons of suspense.
