Daily Log Blog 1/26/18

First day of the third marking period, everybody. We're now more than halfway done with our final year of high school.
With the start of the third marking period also comes the sign ups for blogs throughout the marking period. This time, all classes will be using the same document, so when you sign up for a spot, also add your period number at the end.

Also a reminder: Get it together, everyone. Let's not fail English our last year of high school. Rivers graded our Literature Reviews, make sure you look at them. If anything is unclear, or if you just would like extra assistance in English, Rivers is available during lunches and after school most days.

We then numbered ourselves within our tables using either 1, 2, or 3. We then conducted in-class Golden Globes voting between what we thought were the best sentences within each category, the categories being: Best Verb, Best Integration of Cinematic Choice, Best Evidence and Analysis Pairing, Best Synthesis, and Best Topic Sentence. We then were given two minutes to defend our given numbers sentence and state why it is better than the others. After this allotted two minutes, we were given 30 seconds to speak our minds on what really was the best sentence.

Connecting this to the vast world around us, this can be used to further emphasize the ability to look at things objectively and determine what is or isn't objectively good. For example, just because a particular sentence has bigger and more complex words in it does not make it a better sentence if the point the article is trying to convey is not a valid one. This will definitely come in handy later in the year when we are writing our senior papers.
