Hot Fuzz: The Epitome of British Comedy

When the best constable in London get's transferred to the safest village in the country, hilarious insures. Written by British film makers, Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright of Shaun of the Dead fame, created another incredible parody, this time of cop movies. Hot Fuzz is filled with laughs, and an incredible amount of small details that make every watch better than the last one.
The comedy comes in absurd moments, from learning that the main character's new cop partner was the same man he arrested for drunk driving, to incredible amounts of violence in unexpected and hilarious ways. The movie is best watched without knowing the main plot and figuring it out so I won't spoil much, but the second watch of the movie is better than the first. The small details are what really make the movie incredible. At one point it is mentioned that everyone and theirs mums are packing (guns) around here. Later in the movie, who else has a gun but someones mother.
The style of the comedy in this movie in something much different than seen in traditional comedy though. Many american movies and tv shows will place jokes using a big setup and obvious reveal to the audience, as if they are telling the audience that now is the time to laugh. Pegg and Wright do it differently though. Their comedy is more thought out and subtle, less obvious jokes and more funny situations. The comedy in the movie goes well above just the writing but also the deadpan deliveries.
In addition to jokes, Pegg and Wright did an excellent job parody big action movies. They make the action sequences over the top with all the cliche stereotypes While the main character has to deny ever jumping in the air and shooting his guns when asked by his fellow officers, he is seen doing just that later in the movie. The gore in the action scenes is also so over the top it adds to the comedic value. Perhaps as on homage to Tarantino movies, Hot Fuzz shows heads exploding, massive amounts of blood, and a variety of painful looking unrealistic ailments.
I greatly enjoyed watching Hot Fuzz the first time, and every time I watch it again I pick up on more small details that I failed to catch. The acting and writing is incredible and the movie is incredibly enjoyable to watch from start to finish. I rate this Good Good
